Ben Lamar Gay and Matt Davis make sound in the former ruins of US Steel, a space which has been reclaimed by the City of Chicago as Steelworkers Park. Fisherman receive The Bite of The Perch just off the dock where barges once imported iron ore and coal and exported steel beams.

I was the on-site Lead Video Producer for Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago from 2017-2021. The work encompassed all things video-related at the festival. I booked and coordinated annually a team of ~50 people including camera operators, audio engineers, streaming engineers, IMAG technicians, and producers. I worked in between the production company and client, and managed the delivery of hundreds of terabytes of digital assets at each festival’s conclusion.
Here are a few selections of sets I enjoyed over the years.
Pastor T.L. Barrett performs for the Tiny Desk (from home) Concert Series for NPR. Shot on location at the Pastor’s church, Life Center COGIC, in the Washington Park neighborhood of Chicago. We had just two hours to setup and record, as this was a typically busy Sunday for Pastor Barrett.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, I consulted my friends at Cafe Mustache on building an in-house video streaming system. We co-produced a handful of livestreams to keep some money coming into the cafe during the shutdown. Here’s a funny advertisement I shot and edited to promote their 10th Anniversary T-shirts.
Starring Ben McFadden, and my nephew Jacob. Original music by Zac Naughton. Shot on actual VHS tape to get the 90’s infomercial look.
Clave Kombucha started as a pandemic project for Darien Williams, brewed and bottled in his home kitchen and hand delivered. Clave is soon to be commercially distributed. This video served to drum up more sales via instagram in the early days of production.
Staring Darien, family and friends.
Shot and Edited by Ed Bornstein.

Original Music by Whadduppp Sonnn and Ben McFadden
Promo stills for Le Freak Chicago. We had a ton of fun on this shoot. Adam and Sasha are excellent Deejays and models. Inspired by album covers from the heyday of disco, I tried the pantyhose over the lens trick for a classic soft look to match our vintage clothing rack. The end result manifested some mixture of 70’s biz-casual, party nightlife, metal and heaven.

My time in this business has gotten me some incredible connections, including exclusive access to the big man himself, S. Claus. We fielded 500 personalized Santa greetings for Nordstrom Christmas customer base in 2021, and shot, edited, and delivered all 500 in one week. I was able to pull a favor and get an extra made for my own kids. It’s all about who you know.

Promo photos for hard rock band HITTER. They came to me wanting to get some individual shots for their LP, but also wanted to recreate a famous photo of their favorite band ABBA. Somehow there was a hashtag campaign from ABBA shortly after ( #recreateabba) so, Hitter was ready.
